A walk through yellow

I tried to work with yellow. I took pictures of things I encountered.

  1. there are some great shots her Nathalie my favs...3 and 4 both very skilful use of lines...they both use diagonals but the emotional outcome is quite different...because the grass diagonals are interspersed with curving diagonals it softens the reading considerably which fits perfectly with the subject matter ...whereas the 4th image the diagonals are sharp and angular creating these strong triangular shapes that are bold and slightly aggressive ...again a perfect match for the subject matter...the comp in the 4th image shows perfectly an understanding that photography is a subtractive (like sculpture) medium what we cut off brings the image forward... I also think the first image works well the tight crop and the very straight orientation of the pelicans beak makes a very strong angular shape juxtaposed with the circular eye which for me creates tension...the yellow here is a bit sickly and disturbing...which kind of works with the tensions in the image....good exploration.... well done!!
